TOMSK STATE PEDAGOGICAL UNIVERSITY AND JILIN UNIVERSITY OF FOREIGN LANGUAGES (CHANGCHUN, CHINA) LAUNCHED DOUBLE DEGREE PROGRAM
In 2022-2023 academic year the Tomsk State Pedagogical University for the first time will launch a double degree program with the Jilin University of Foreign Languages (Changchun, PRC). The new program (44.03.01) in the field of pedagogical education "Russian as a foreign language" is focused on teaching foreign students from the People's Republic of China.
The concept of the double degree program is as follows: Chinese students study for three years at the Jilin University of Foreign Languages, and on the 4th year they come to Russia for the final stage on the basis of the Institute of Foreign Languages and International Cooperation of TPU. Teachers of the Institute of Foreign Languages and International Cooperation of TPSU conduct the educational process in several academic disciplines related to the professional training of future teachers of Russian as a foreign language.
«Studying in the double degree program with international exchange provides students with a number of additional opportunities. First of all, as the name of the program suggests, upon completion of the program graduates will receive two higher education documents at once — one from TSPU and the other from our foreign partner university. This gives the graduates more employment opportunities. In addition, such cooperation will allow students to gain valuable experience studying abroad», — says Anna G. Bogdanova, director of the TSPU Institute of Foreign Languages and International Communication.
Over 50 young people from China have been enrolled in the Institute of Foreign Languages and International Communication of the Tomsk State Pedagogical University in accordance with the Agreement on the implementation of a joint educational project to train bachelors of Russian as a foreign language. The aim of the project is to train international highly qualified specialists with strong knowledge of Russian language, who have the basics of theory, methods and skills of teaching it as a foreign language, have good professional literacy of a teacher, as well as skills for research activities.
