TSPU BASKETBALL PLAYERS ARE THE BEST IN TOMSK REGION

At the Tomsk State Pedagogical University's Sport and Health Complex, the regional stage of the Association of student basketball (ASB) 3x3 championship was held. The TSPU's women's basketball team outplayed its opponents to become the best in Tomsk Oblast.

This tournament is the only street basketball competition among students in Russia. In this way, the ASB 3x3 basketball helps to form the street culture of students. The difference in street basketball is the number of players — teams consist of three players and one substitute. Usually, the tournament is held on street courts, responding to the specifics of the sport, but the decision was made to hold the event at the TSPU's sports complex.

The students of the Faculty of physical culture and sports of the TSPU Ermakova Alevtina, Selivanova Elizaveta, Alina Cherkashina, and Alena Nikitina competed with the female teams, some of which were especially tough: our students lost to the girls from the Siberian State Medical University, and the Tomsk State University's team took the lead by one point. However, this did not affect the final result: thanks to victories in other games the TSPU team took first place and entered the All-Russian level.

Before the match the girls had only one goal: to enjoy the game and the atmosphere of the regional competition:

"We didn't prepare specially for this competition, we were training for the performance in the main competitions. But then we heard about the ASB 3x3 and decided to play for fun", — said Elizaveta Selivanova.

Girls were calm and confident in their game, but sometimes there were emergency situations, for example, the game with the Tomsk State University of Control Systems and Radioelectronics team, where just one player exceeded our athletes in strength. But the future teachers coped with it easily. A good game and the right attitude helped the students to be the best in Tomsk Oblast!

Now girls are waiting for the All-Russian final in Moscow, where they will meet with teams from other regions of the country and will show a beautiful Tomsk basketball. And the winner of the ASB Super Final 3x3 will get the chance to represent Russia in the major international competitions among students.
