TSPU STUDENTS AND GRADUATES ARE WINNERS OF THE REGIONAL "SPORTS ELITE" COMPETITION

The Department of Youth Policy, Physical Culture and Sports of the Tomsk Region has summed up the results of the regional competition "Sports Elite". Among the winners of the competition are students of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports of the TSPU.

The "Sports Elite" competition has been held in the Tomsk region since 1993 and is aimed at promoting the development of sports achievments. In 2020, the competition had picked 44 best athletes and coaches, as well as one national team, who achieved high results and made a significant contribution to the development of physical culture and sports in the region from July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2020.

The sports achivements of the students of the TSPU were highly appreciated by the Tomk region. There are international master of sports in sambo, silver medalist of the European Championship and winner of the Russian Championship Valeria Anisimova and master of sports in judo, champion of the European championship Alexandra Askarova. The athletes became winners in the nominations "Best Athlete in Non-Olympic Sports" and "Olympic Hope", respectively.

Besides, graduates of the TSPU Ilya Afonin and Turgai Mammadov (kickboxing) were honored with the nomination "Best Athlete in Non-Olympic Sports". The nomination "The best athlete in adaptive sports" was presented to the graduates of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sportsof Svetlana Orlova and Vladimir Ulyanov (curling). Among the "Best trainers" are TSPU graduates Kirill Bazaev (kickboxing) and Konstantin Sherstobitov (curling).

The winners of the competition also included applicants to theTSPU 2020, European Curling Champions among athletes with hearing impairments Oleg Khoroshkov, Andrey Anischenko and Roman Serebrennikov. The guys were included in the nomination "Best Athlete in Adaptive Sports"

In total, over 80 applications were submitted for the competition in 2020. The commission picked the winners in the nominations: "Best Athlete in Olympic Sports", "Olympic Hope", "Best Athlete in Non-Olympic Sports", "Sports Hope", "Best Sports Team", "Best Coach" and others.
