TSPU international student sports festival

Tomsk State Pedagogical University students from the UK, Poland, the Czech Republic, Brazil, Japan, China, Mongolia and the CIS countries, who arrived at the TSPU to study in the framework of academic exchange programs, became participants in the first international sports festival, held at our university last Saturday.

The athletes were welcomed by the vice-rector for international activities and informatization of the TSPU K.E. Osetrin, vice-rector for youth policy and educational work of the TSPU D. B. Nasonov, Head of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of the TSPU; Secretary of the Organizing Committee I.А. Zyubanova.

Having divided into five teams (two representatives from each national group), the students faced the challenges in Darts, Basketball, Football, Hockey, Bowling. In addition, the competition included the educational part: while the players demonstrated their athletic skills, a selection of historical and cultural facts about the countries represented at the Games was played in the hall. Having coped with the main sports, the participants started to complete tasks of the relay: passing the ball, balance exercises.

“In England, we mainly play football, - says Andrew Johnson, a student at the University of Bristol. - And here the sport is completely different, we were offered to try many different directions. There were unusual exercises, it's so much fun! ”

Between the competitions the young athletes demonstrated martial arts - karate and wushu. Representatives of the participating teams showed colleagues their national games. 

The Jury committee had choosen the winners:

Team (relay):

1st place - a team of CIS countries;
2nd place - the team of Mongolia;
3rd place - a team of EU countries.

Command (main sports):

1st place - the team of Brazil;
2nd place - the team of Japan;
3rd place - a team of EU countries.
The winners and prize-winners of the Games of the TSPU peoples were awarded with cups and medals made of traditional Russian materials (birch and bark), the teams received sweet prizes and commemorative pictures.

The international student sports festival of the TSPU is a unique international sports event for our city. It was organized by specialists of the department of international cooperation of the university, who are continuously working to expand the boundaries of international partnership, as well as representatives of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports, the TSPU sports club and the Main Jury committee.
