RUSSIAN LANGUAGE COURSE FOR STUDENTS FROM JAPAN AT TSPU
For the eighth time the annual Russian Language and Culture School for students from Japan was held at the Tomsk State Pedagogical University. Our university was visited by 15 students from two Japanese partner universities - Hiroshima University and Ochanomizu University (Tokyo).
Japanese students had experienced an interesting and rich cultural and educational program, which included not only lessons and seminars, but also cultural and entertainment events: presentations, workshops, acting classes, Russian cuisine tasting, meetings with Tomsk students studying Japanese, dog- drawn sledge trips, excursions and much more.
The daily lessons of Russian as a foreign language were conducted by Anastasia S. Savenko, Ph.D., assistant professor of the Chair of Modern Russian Language and Stylistics of the History and Philology Faculty of TSPU. Workshops on traditional Russian dolls were organized and conducted by Inessa Igorevna Babenko, Ph.D., Associate Professor of the Chair of Language Theory and Methods of Teaching Russian Language and Literature. The main part in the support and organization of the work of the School was fulfilled by the staff of the Department for International Cooperation and the International Information Center of the TSPU.
The closing of the School of Russian Language and Culture had gathered Tomsk citizens, who are fond of Japanese language and culture, students and teachers of our university became guests. Final presentations by the participants were not only interesting and informative, but also surprising, since before the arrival to Tomsk the guys had not learn Russian at all. In just three weeks of intensive studies, they have mastered Russian so much that they were able to compose and present short thematic reports, as well as to take part in a musical and theatrical show in Russian. Classes at the School of Russian Language and Culture of TSPU have become a bright and interesting event in the life of all participants of the project.
