TSPU STUDENTS WON THE CITY «KNOWLEDGE REACTOR» HACKATHON

Students from Tomsk State Pedagogical University's Institute of the Faculty of History and Philology have won at the city's «Reactor of Knowledge» hackathon.

This hackathon, part of SIBUR's «Formula of Good Deeds» social investment program, promotes skills development in technology and innovation entrepreneurship among youth.

During the demo day, TSPU's team «Forward to the Past» presented an award-winning educational project using augmented reality. The team, composed of fourth-year students, explored VR and AR technologies, creating a project that brings Tomsk's ancient history to life.

They plan to offer virtual tours of archaeological treasures found in Tomsk, providing comprehensive information about each artifact's age, creator, and purpose.

«Nobody really knows the ancient history of Tomsk... so we quickly settled on the topic of the project. Our team includes students who are engaged in archaeological research as part of their internship at the university and want to become archaeologists in the future, as well as historians, philologists, which allowed us to approach the idea from different angles», — noted Egor, one of the members of TSPU's team.

The jury highly praised the concepts suggested by TSPU students, awarding them first place and presenting the winners with a two-month package of expert support for their project.
